Our Gospel

When the son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit
upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will assemble before him. And he will
separate them one from another as shepherds separate the sheep from the
goats. He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the king
will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my father. Inherit the
kingdom
prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

For I was hungry
and you fed me,

Thirsty
and you gave me drink.

I was a stranger
and you received me in your homes.

Naked
and you clothed me.

I was sick
and you took care of me,

In prison and
you visited me.'

Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord when did we see you hungry
and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger
and welcome you, or naked and cloth you? When did we see you ill, or in prison
and come visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you,
whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25:35-36

Our Faith

The practice of working with people who are poor, and living in a Christian
community comes out of our personal relationship with God:

For us:

-Personal prayer and community prayer are essential. We respond to our daily
lives and experiences with our individual and shared prayer.

-We are urged to become educated in our faith. Most of us have a high school
level of faith education; some do not even have that. We need to move out of our
ignorance by educating ourselves in our faith.

-Our religion is a way of life; our faith and our life are entwined with each other.

Our Ideals

We are a Christian community in which we make a commitment to people who
are poor and marginalised. Our community is fuelled by the work of volunteers
and thrives off involving other people, especially young people, to walk with us in
our mission. We welcome people of all ages who are young at heart. We will each
find people who are poor, for the poor are often hidden. And we will work with
these at a face-to-face level.

-We will work to change structures that are unjust, and do so from a level of
personal experience.

-We will have few rules and want always to remain flexible. God’s kingdom is what
matters.

-Our community does not exist for itself, but for the mission.

-We will see Christ in one another, and people who are poor. People who are poor
are our friends, truly equal with us. They are Christ. We will grow, as the need
arises, as a series of small house churches.

-We do not want to be short-term do-gooders: our commitment to people who are
poor is a way of life.
