Welcome to the JCA Website

Our Mission

“To find Christ in people who are living in poverty and need”.

Overwhelmed by god’s love we invite others, especially young people, in a commitment to people who are living in poverty and need.

“If you have come to help me… you are wasting your time.
But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine then let us work together”.
- Lilla Watson (Indigenous Australian)

Volunteer Testimonies

In a time when my life was a bit upside down, JCA became an understanding family that allowed me to grow into myself. Being a part of JCA since 2001, I've been a full time and part time volunteer working in a way that enabled me to fit into the community and the work. To fulfil the need by driving buses for work and pleasure, feeding families for necessity and at BBQs, from being present to the eldest grandmother to holding the smallest new born. Join the family, network and COMMUNITY that changes lives, mine, yours and theirs.

I started volunteering part time with JCA in 2005 and my life has changed dramatically through my experiences since then. I have made many friends from other countries and learnt a lot from them about their cultures and their strength and courage as they left their home country to make a new home in Australia. These experiences inspired me to do a year of full-time volunteering this year! I'm learning so much and having fun in the process with all the other volunteers too.

My year at JCA was a
great time. It has shaped my outlook on life after working with some of the strongest people, and put many parts of life right into perspective. I made some fantastic friends and had some extraordinary experiences that have made me who I am. I recommend it a fair bit :)
