Hello again Hello and welcome to the new and improving JCA Web presence. As you can see the site has experienced some changes over the last little while.
Unfortunately the old one was attacked and no longer exists, so we are trying out this one and will be making more adjustments as time goes by…
But we are still here and doing what we always do – providing a place for young people to live their faith in action, working to meet the needs of the poor and marginalised as Mary MacKillop did; by “never seeing a need without doing something about it”!!
Most of the old information is still here and we will be adding pictures and other goodies soon – STAY TUNED!AdrianonTuesday 05 August 2008 - 13:39:05 Read/Post Comment: 0
Winter Warmer E-zine Jca Winter e-ZINE 2008
Well hello folks, welcome to another long-awaited (hopefully) e-zine, brought to you by your recently returned me! The next couple of months are sure to be warm ones at JCA, even if the weather is getting colder, we can always find something light the fire and get those toes toasty!! Firstly, I would like to thank all those who wished June and I well for our wedding. We had a wonderful day and great time in Korea, and look forward to sharing our stories with you as soon as our paths cross.
So…on with the show!!!
HOME NIGHTS JUNE Winter arrives with at breakneck speed with a trip to AUBURN GALLIPOLI MOSQUE tonight 3rd at 7.00pm 15-19 North Parade Auburn Sydney. Buses will leave Nixon at 6.15pm and Toonie at 6.15pm. They need to leave then because we have to be at the Mosque punctually or you can meet us there. Also a dress code applies.
The rest of June follows the usual format; however we will be farewelling two of our Gap volunteers this month so coming along to the home night before their departure might be a good way of saying “Hoo Roo”.
Kathi’s last home night will be the 17th June.
Caitlin will be heading home a couple of weeks later so come and wish her well on the 24th June at Toonie House.
July July is a month of discovery and departures as well.
Our first Home night on the 1st July will be sharing spirituality as well.
The evening will begin at our usual time 7pm, at The Australia Culture Centre 3 Parkview Drive Sydney Olympic Park NSW 2127. This time we will be visiting Soka Gakkai, “Soka Gakkai bases itself on the teaching and practice established by Nichiren Daishonin, a Japanese Buddhist priest and philosopher living in thirteenth century Japan. Nichiren Daishonin revealed a direct means for all people to become happy through the practice of chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo (The title of the Lotus Sutra and teaching expounded by Shakyamuni Buddha of India). It is a universal practice that activates the inherent Buddha nature or creative life-force existing in all life, enabling each person to positively transform their life and relationships.” (Website)
8th July @ Nixon will see as saying Bon Voyage to Kieran and Ryan. Kieran is going back to the US and Ryan to England. Come along and thank them for hangin’ ‘round for a while.
The 15th and 22nd will be at Nixon, anyone interested in sharing a reflection with us, or maybe cooking a meal. C’mon be adventurous and join us we love seeing old faces, as well as new ones!!
The 29th will see us at Emma Crescent for the last time as our remaining volunteers will all be bunking down at Toonie til the end of the year. This house has been a great place for us, even if for a short time so turn up and have some fun.
AUGUST Not much planned for August yet, I’m afraid but I do know that the first week will be at the Excelsior Hotel, 64 Foveaux St, Surry Hills. 7.00pm 5th August.
Well that’s about it for this one, but stay tuned because another is on the way soon that may change someone’s life.
Really, I am serious!! You watch… AdrianonFriday 13 June 2008 - 09:29:04 Read/Post Comment: 0
